OUR STORY
1937
Walter Shelmerdine founded Shelmerdine in Charleswood, Manitoba by producing and selling fruit trees to farmers.
Walter Shelmerdine knocked on doors to sell landscape plans, produce plant catalogues and secure landscaping contracts
1944
The business grew and continued to grow as a number of business partners joined the company
1960s and 70s
The original Shelmerdine site was sold, and the current 80-acre growing range in Headingley, Manitoba was established.
1974
Shelmerdine trucks could be seen landscaping entire streets as new housing developments popped up.
1970s and 80s
The company was reorganized into two separate companies; one for retail and one for landscaping. The retail store has continued to grow into the Shelmerdine you know and love today.
2005
2025
Shelmerdine formed an exciting new partnership between Matt Bell and Chad Labbe reopening the door into landscape installations with Geller's Design | Build | Landscape and Shelmerdine Garden Center
