Your organization can enjoy the flexibility of fundraising between September and early December. You choose when to start, stop and take delivery of your holiday plants and/or vouchers. Our team is dedicated to helping you raise funds for your organization.
Whether you're raising money for new equipment, a special trip, or an important community project, we're here to help make your fundraiser a success.
Nothing says the holidays quite like a beautiful poinsettia! Grown right here at Shelmerdine, our vibrant poinsettias are a seasonal favourite that brighten homes, offices, classrooms, and holiday gatherings.
Welcome the season with a classic evergreen wreath. Made with fresh greenery, these timeless decorations are a wonderful addition to any front door and a favourite purchase year after year.
Looking for something a little different? Our handcrafted door swags bring natural holiday charm to any entrance and make a beautiful gift for family and friends.
Give your supporters the freedom to choose! Shelmerdine gift cards can be used throughout the store, from plants and gardening supplies to home décor, gifts, seasonal treasures, and so much more.
LIGHT: Your poinsettia will need bright, natural light in order to stay healthy. A bright room that has windows facing south or west is ideal. If the windows face north or east, place your poinsettia right in the window, without having it touch the window.
WATER: It’s very common to “love poinsettias too much” by overwatering (a great indicator of this is that the bottom leaves will turn yellow and drop). Water the plant thoroughly when the soil surface is dry to the touch. Discard any excess water in the saucer, sleeve or decorative cover after 10 minutes.
TEMPERATURE: Poinsettias are very sensitive to frost and cold drafts. Try to keep them warm and cozy, away from vents and doorways.
OUR GUARANTEE: If you’re not happy with your poinsettia, please bring it back to Shelmerdine before December 23 and we’ll replace for you, no questions asked.
FUN FACT: The poinsettia, like all members of the Euphorbia Pulcherrima family, doesn’t have a large flower. It’s classic colour comes form a ring of coloured leaves, called a bract, that surround the cyathia, a cluster of small, yellow flowers at the center.
Joel Roberts Poinsett, the first US Ambassador to Mexico, found the plant blooming by a road in 1828 and brought cuttings back to his greenhouse in South Carolina. Collectors in the southern states began to ask for it and the popularity of the Poinsettia was born.
SHELMERDINE GROWN: Your poinsettia begins its time at Shelmerdine at the beginning of July! When everyone else is enjoying their gardens, we are transplanting thousands of unrooted poinsettia cuttings (which are a little more than a leaf and a stick!) representing almost 40 varied colours, textures and sizes, to start our crop. Our professional growers nurse the poinsettia crop for 6 months, monitoring and attending to their every needs.
FOR OUTDOOR DISPLAYS: Your fresh and fragrant festive swag can last for weeks outdoors. Try to place your swags out of direct sunlight, which tends to dry them out faster.
FOR INDOOR DISPLAYS: If you’re planning on using your festive swag indoors, store it outdoors or in a cool area until you want to display it. Because of the warm and dry temperatures within your home, your swag may last up to 2 weeks. Keep away from heat sources such as air vents or fireplaces.
MISTING IS A MUST: Regular misting every 1-2 days will help keep your festive swag properly hydrated if you are displaying your swag indoors. A light mist is all you need to keep your swag fresh and fragrant.
USE LED LIGHTS: If you want to add lights to your swag, use LED lights as they stay cool and won’t dry out your swag.
FUN FACT: Pieces of seasonal greenery are an environmentally friendly choice because they’re sustainably farmed or harvested, and they can be composted.
Live Christmas greenery is one of the joys that make the season bright and beautiful. Made from natural greenery, they are striking in appearance, and they smell wonderful!
